“Soaping” in the Laundry Moments
Teenagers know more than you think. Listening effectively takes two parties. One party may not get the memo though until much later down the road, case in point:
Rocky learned how to wash clothes, but did he learn “how” he was supposed to?
He started a load of laundry about once a week during his high school years. His mother checked in from time to time, not noticing much out of the unordinary. Until one day, she said, “it smells kind of funny in here.”
She looked high and low to find any “food” or “candy” stashed in corners, behind the pillow, by the computer, in an old gym bag, you get the idea.
She did not find any old bags of chips or half eaten candy bars.
Then came another season. Rocky moved out and was not too far away. He watched his roommate load some laundry and realized a new trick, and he had a great epiphany, throw some “soap” in the wash!

“Chester, Chester, where are you? The lights are shining. Can you turn off the strobes, they are a bit much?”
Chester is only a cat, how is he going to turn off the strobe lights?
“Dixie, Dixie, will you put the milk away?” Dixie, Dixie is a bird who flies the friendly skies, chirps during the
day, and tweets early in the morning. Dixie, Dixie does not know how to put milk away.
Chime a little closer. If you were a cat, furry and sweet, you might find the milk “source,” as you may like to
drink it. Cats are smart!
Birds are smart as well, they fly south for the winter, they know it is warmer there. What about lights? What?
Do they know something we don’t? What do they see? Check with a bird expert who can expand your
knowledge about an array of birds from colors and size, location and types, you will be astounded.
What do birds symbolize in the Bible? They are rich in imagery, just like my writing! They are also cared for by God and a part of His creation. Eagles are a powerful bird which represents strength (Isaiah 34:11).
